Unusual origin and potentially hazardous course of the major blood vessels in neck – A clinically relevant rare case

چکیده
Left brachiocephalic vein begins from junction of left subclavian and left internal jugular vein posterior to medial end of left clavicle. It crosses to the right moving slightly in inferior direction and joins with right brachiocephalic vein to form superior vena cava. During its oblique course it crosses the left subclavian artery, left common carotid artery and brachiocephalic trunk in the superior mediastinum. Brachiocephalic trunk is described as the largest branch of the arch of the aorta, 4 to 5 cm in length, and arises from the arch’s convexity, posterior to the center of the manubrium sterni. It ascends posterolaterally to the right, at first anterior to trachea, then on its right. At the level of right sternoclavicular joint’s upper border it divides into right common carotid and right subclavian arteries [1]. At the lower part of neck the two common carotid arteries are separated from each other by a very narrow interval, which contains the trachea (Figure 1).

A Case Report of Variant Origin of Left Vertebral Artery from Aortic Arch and its Embryological Explanation
Vertebral artery is the first branch of subclavian artery. It merges with the same artery of the opposite side to form basilar artery and becomes one of the important source of blood supply to the brain. Variation in the origin of left vertebral artery was found in 65 year old female during magnetic resonance angiography of the neck vessels. It originated from aortic arch and was longer as ...
متن کاملClinically relevant variations in the origin and course of the radial artery
Background: The radial artery is an essential artery supplying the structures in the forearm. Variations in the radial artery concerning its origin, course, branching pattern, and mode of termination have been commonly reported. The high origin of the radial artery from either brachial or axillary artery was detected in numerous studies. Clinically-radial artery is used in cardiac catheterizati...

It mainly affects Asian males in their 2nd to 4th decade of life. One such case of Kimura’s disease, which is uncommon in Indian natives, is reported. Case Report: A ...
متن کاملCase Report: A Rare Variation in Origin of Common Interosseous Artery: A Review of Anatomical Studies and Case Report
An unusual origin of the common interosseous artery is reported in the paper. During educational dissection of a 37-year-old male, a rare variation in the origin of common interosseous artery of the right upper limb was observed. The common interosseous artery directly separated from radial artery. The right anterior interosseous artery is continued from common interosseous artery. Anterior and...
متن کاملA Widely Destructive Leiomyoma of the Nasal Septum – An unusual presentation
Leiomyoma of nasal cavity is a rare and benign tumor of smooth muscle origin that uncommonly arises from the nasal septum. We present an unusual case of histopathologically diagnosed locally extensive leiomyoma of the nasal septum which was clinically and radiologically misdiagnosed as malignancy of the nasal cavity. This case report emphasizes the rare occurrence of this entity at this site an...
